Studio Critic at the VI and IX studio levels and Lecturer in History of City Planning.

A recent recipient of Southern University's "Teacher of the Year" award, Smith's professional activities include an on-going private practice as architect, architectural design consultant, and urban design consultant.  His architectural work has been included in several books on architecture and he was awarded a citation for 'Excellence in Design' by the Vieux Carre Commission for two buildings in New Orleans.  He is also an active member of United Scenic Artists of America (New York Chapter 829) and has worked professionally as scenic designer, lighting designer and scenic artist in New Orleans and New York.  His other area of interest is in theatrical productions (including movies) as producer and writer, and one of his original     plays has been named among the best 100 new plays of a recent year.  His initial architectural  publication focuses on 'elderly ghettos'.
